'Type of Scan' determines what types of irregularities SAM Virus Clinic reports in the Results Window during a scan.
'Display in List' determines what type of information SAM Virus Clinic displays in the Results Window during a scan.
'Scope of Scan' options determine whether only executable files or all files on a volume are scanned.
'Scan Options' control what types of files are scanned, the extent of the scan, and what information is displayed in the Results Window during a scan.
'All examined files' displays in the Results Window every file that is examined during a scan.
'Irregular Files ONLY' displays in the Results Window only those files found to contain known viruses, irregularities, and virus-like resources during a scan.
'Use checksum' creates a log with a code checksum for each file scanned the first time you scan a volume with this option on. When you scan a folder or volume after that SAM validates the checksum. If the file has changed, a message is displayed.
'Use filters' checks each irregularity it finds during a scan against a built-in list of irregularities. If a match is found, SAM Virus Clinic doesn't report the irregularity.
'Complete check' scans files for file irregularities, as well as viruses. You have the option of selecting 'Use filters' or 'Use checksums' with this option.
'Infections Only' limits the scan to checking only for known viruses and virus-like resources.
'Full scan' scans all files for viruses. In most cases, 'Full scan' is the recommended setting.
'Quick scan' examines only executable files (applications, startup documents, system files, desktop files, and Hypercard documents) for viruses. Because 'Quick scan' doesn't scan all files, it is faster than 'Full scan'.
